Linaker is a two form entry Primary School, Nursery and Children's Centre in the heart of Southport, a seaside town in the north of the Borough of Sefton. The school provides for children aged between 3 and 11 and currently has just under 500 pupils on roll. The centre is one of the most successful in the north of England.

In October 2010 OFSTED inspected the school and centre. This is what they said

• Linaker Primary School and Children’s Centre is a good school. Pupils’ learning in lessons and their progress over time are good as a result of good teaching
• Care, guidance and support and safeguarding procedures have been systematically built up to outstanding levels over recent years
