The Centre as a Health Environment
The Health team provide a variety of support networks and activities for parents within Linaker Children’s Centre, the main focus being on primary health care education e.g. ante-natal advice, nutrition in pregnancy, parent education classes, post natal care, feeding and the role of the Health Visitor.
There is a Midwife and Health Visitor permanently located within the Children’s Centre who is available for advice throughout the day and contactable via the Children’s Centre. The Midwife is also contactable via mobile phone and email.
The Midwife Jan – provides guidance to families throughout Southport, who made need support and advice in addition to that given by the Community Midwives. The midwife provides a variety of activities within the Children’s Centre, including evening and daytime ante-natal classes, baby massage, a group for International Parents, and is available to advise within the post natal drop- in group.
Additional support is also given to Teenage mums and help with advice on education during and after pregnancy.

The Health Visitors Beryl & Linda – There are currently two Health Visitors within the Health Team, who provide a Baby Clinic drop in, within the Children’s Centre, where babies can be weighed and advice can be given to new parents. They also run a Breast Feeding Café. The Health Visitors can be contacted via the Children’s Centre staff.
The Speech & Language Therapists Meg & Chris - Both Meg & Chris work within the Children’s Centre to prevent avoidable speech, language and communication difficulties, providing a link between the family and community therapist. Our Speech & Language Therapists can be contacted via the Children’s Centre staff.
