Members of the school council at Linaker Primary School & Children’s Centre in Sefton Street buried a time capsule in the school playground as one of the celebrations for the schools centenary. Children from throughout the school put together their ideas as to what should go into the capsule. These items include school uniform, centenary souvenirs, children’s work, dinner menus, a mobile phone and a podcast. Each of these items were selected to represent things of relevance to life in Linaker today.

At the event, pupils will help to bury the time capsule safely within the foundations so that in years to come, should the time capsule be excavated, a future generation of young people can get a snapshot of what school life was like in 2010.

The time capsule was kindly designed, built and donated by Latimers Engineering on Shakespeare Street.  It is made of solid stainless steel and is designed to last for at least fifty years.
