Solutions to separating (1-3-16)
In science today, the challenge was a practical one. The children worked in teams to use what they have learned about materials to separate a mixture of sand, sugar and rice. Even if a couple of teams had to go back and repeat steps after stirring clean sugar solution with a sandy spoon... every team in the end registered a success. They learned to explain what they were doing using words like filter, dissolve, sieve, soluble and evaporate.
