The Koala Room
In our 9 place baby unit we have a created a warm, pleasant environment, which benefits from having its own quiet area where babies can sleep and play in comfort. Our more active babies can crawl and explore in our stimulating environment. All babies learn through interaction and being able to investigate the world around them so staff provide a range of activities and opportunities that promote and support this through the current government guidelines.

In our room we love messy play and exploring our senses with natural objects. We enjoy making noise time through our song, rhyme and musical instruments. Come rain or shine you will find us outside in our specially equipped garden. After a fun filled time we like to get cosy and comfortable in our quiet area and spend quality time reading and relaxing.

Meet the Staff:

Kristy - Senior Practitioner
I love to organise a wide and varied choice of activities for the babies that will develop their experiences and learning. I especially love to be outside with the children and spend my time interacting with them. They bring so much to the room that each day is different and it is a pleasure to be involved in their development. I always ensure that we follow the routine that the parents have agreed with us, maintaining the babies security and comfort whilst having fun throughout the day.

Ruth – Childcare Assistant
My favourite activities are the sand and water play, I love spending time with the children both inside and outside watching and helping them learn through play. I support the children to settle in when they are new to the nursery and to learn about their individual needs and personalities.

Rob – Childcare Assistant
I have a very calm way with the children and listen to their needs. I love getting out and about with the babies when we go on visits to the aquarium or the park. It’s great to watch them grow and develop into their own individual personalities.
The Wallaby Room
Our 12 place room for children aged 2-3 is an exhilarating place to be when your are finding your feet and everything is a challenge. We have developed an environment for our toddlers that will encourage them to explore and experiment, and try out all their newly acquired skills whilst retaining the security of having familiar adults around them.

In our room we love to play, have fun and get messy. Our room is very much about learning through play – all our staff bring a special quality to the room:

Meet the staff:

Alex - Senior Practitioner
I enjoy planning for and being involved in all activities such as music and movement and news time. This gives the children the opportunity to chat and discuss what they did at the weekend and what activities they have enjoyed doing in our room that day.
We value each child for their individuality and the personality and uniqueness they bring to the Wallaby room.

Alison - Childcare Assistant
I enjoy being outside in the garden with the children, doing circle games, story time and providing children with the chance to use their imaginations whilst exploring new experiences.
The Kangaroos
We are a preschool room for children aged 3-5. We believe that in order to learn children need time, quality resources and an environment that encourages them to ‘have a go’. The staff recognise that children learn in a variety of ways and so provide a range of activities that support individual children’s needs. Opportunities are given that allow children time to interact with others, provide time to explore and space to relax.
We work hard as a team to create a caring and friendly environment for all of the children.

Katy Oakley - Assistant Head teacher for Early Years, Kangaroo Room Teacher and Children’s Centre Teacher.
I enjoy working as a team to plan and develop exciting activities which meet the needs and stages of the development of each child. I love to involve the children in making our nursery environment a happy inviting place to be. I love to have fun.

Maggie White – Kangaroo Room Teacher
I am fortunate enough to be able to play with all the toys in all the rooms! I work with the children, support staff and help to promote learning through play. Our aim is for the children to have fun while learning and enjoy their experience here at the nursery.

Rachel - Senior childcare practitioner.
The Kangaroo room has a fantastic mix of children and I love getting to know all their personalities. I enjoy providing imaginative and exciting activities for the children and love to see them enjoy their time in nursery. I am particularly responsible for the childcare provision in the room and making sure the children have a fantastic time!

Ruth Mathision- Teaching Assistant.
I enjoy music, outside play, craft and especially role play. I also really enjoy working with groups of children to develop their mathematical and communication skills. I support the children with settling in when they are new to the nursery and learn their needs and what they like to do. I have 18 years experience at Linaker Primary School and have worked with all ages.

Kim- Childcare Assistant.
I love to be creative and really enjoy painting, drawing, making models and playing in the garden. I work hard to create a caring and friendly environment for all the children.

Karen – Childcare Assistant
I spend a lot of time in the Kangaroo room supporting the staff and working with the children. I enjoy getting to know them all and following their interests in the activities we provide. I also enjoy spending time in all the rooms and getting to know the babies and toddlers.
