We had a great day celebrating World Book Day. All of the children made such a effort to dress up. In Year One, we started the day by each taking it in turns to tell others who we decided to dress up as and why. We then spent some time writing a character description. We discussed different authors and focussed mainly on Julia Donaldson, as she is the author of our new focus text, 'Tyrannosaurus Drip'. We listened to some facts and found out about some of the stories she's written. In the afternoon, each class picked a Julia Donaldson book to base some activities on. 1SH chose 'Zog', 1KO chose 'Snail and the Whale' and 1AN chose 'The Hare and the Tortoise'. We really enjoyed the afternoon (and so did the children!) We had a visit from Zog's friend, a pet bearded dragon. A visit from a tortoise and a visit from some garden snails. See some photographs below.
