Year 2
Welcome to Year Two!
There are three classes in Year Two; 2MH, 2EB and 2KT. Year Two’s teaching team includes Miss Hughes (Teacher 2MH & Year 2 Leader), Miss Boyle (Teacher 2EB), Miss Turner and Mrs McFall (Teachers 2KT). The support staff in Year Two are Mr Beaver, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Butler. Mr Beaver teaches 2EB on Tuesday afternoons and 2MH on Friday afternoons. The children in Year Two enjoy a varied and exciting curriculum with lots of creative activities. We work very hard to ensure that the transition from Year One to Two is smooth and successful. The teachers will update this page; make sure you check back for weekly updates.
Key information
We have made a few changes to homework in Year 2 for 2017.
Please click on the link below to find out a little bit more about reading, homework, spellings etc.
Claude in the City
In the autumn term the year 2 topic is Southport (whole school topic). We are using the book 'Claude in the City' to compare a city to a seaside town. Please click the link below to keep up to date with what we are doing.
The Magic Paintbrush
In the Spring Term the year 2 topic is China. We have hooked the children in using a story by one of our favourite authors, Julia Donaldson. The story is set in China and is about a little girl named Shen. She gets given a very special gift.
Superheroes!!
For Spring term 2, Year 2 will be focussing their work around the topic 'Superheroes'. This will link in with our Science as we carry on learning about materials, art as we design and print new superhero capes and history when we will be learning about hereos from the past.
Meerkat Mail
In Summer term 1 we are reading a book called Meerkat Mail. On Monday afternoon Mrs Brown came running in to our classrooms saying that something had happened in the hall. We needed to check it out as she was off to a meeting. Follow the link to find out more...
Summer Term 2
Summer 2 is a very busy half term, starting with 'Love My Community Week', followed by Arts Week, in the run-up to our Sports Days, with Sefton's Summer of Sports all mixed in together! Please see our 'Other Pages' links below for photos and information about all of these special themed weeks and events.
After Arts Week, our topic lessons will be RE lessons. We will be learning about places of worship, symbols and leaders in different faiths, as well as learning about the importance of respect, tolerance and understanding in multicultural communities.
