Exploring Through Spring
Exploration and Investigation
We are spending this half term exploring and investigating in all aspects of our learning, from reading and writing adventure stories to scientific investigation and learning about the world around us and where we live.
Keep checking back here to see photos of our Springtime Adventures!
This half term, we started off our learning by reading a book all about exploring - "We're Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen. We loved reading this book in the build up to World Book Day, when we came to school dressed as explorers and used the text to inspire lots of fun learning.
Next we had a very exciting British Science Week, where we investigated science in journeys. Mrs Cain's class investigated the journey of plastic into the environment, with Year 2. Miss Hughes and Mr Kelly's class explored the journey of a sneeze, the channel tunnel, ramps and inclines and the passing of time with the arrival of Spring. We have loved working scientifically all week!
Then we started reading "Meerkat Mail" by Emily Gravett. We are using this text to help us with our geography learning, discovering and understanding where we live. We will be writing and posting letters home to our grown-ups, which is very exciting!
