Love My Community
Love My Community week
Week beginning Monday 5th June 2017
This week we have been thinking about our community. We started the week by talking about belonging and how we can belong to different groups etc. We said that a community is a group of people that all have something in common. We enjoyed talking about our local community. We talked about different jobs within the community, people that help us in the community as well as our school community.
At Linaker we have links with different organisations in the community and one of those organisations is The Salvation Army. Children contributed to a further class discussion to say what The Salvation Army do for our community e.g. they run kids clubs, come in and deliver fun assemblies as well as engaging with the wider community.
We wanted to think of a way to say a big thank you to them for everything they do for us at Linaker. We decided to plant some bulbs to give to The Salvation Army. We thought they could then pass a 'flower' on to let our community love grow to their extended community. We also planted some bulbs for our lovely reading buddies as a thank you for all they do. We really appreciate all their help and support!
Dough Disco Day!
Friday 9th June 2017
Today we had so much fun participating in an international Dough Disco Day! Lots of schools from lots of different countries took part in international Dough Disco day.
Dough disco involves moulding dough in time to music and performing different actions such as rolling it into a ball, flattening it, putting each individual finger into the dough, rolling it into a sausage and squeezing it!
The whole school joined on the playground, each child with a piece of dough ready to take part in Dough Disco. Ms Leddy told us the moves and Liam from nursery provided the music. We had lots of fun as you can see from the photographs below.
