RE- Christianity
Christianity
In Autumn term 1 we have been learning about what it means to belong. We talked about where they belong, such as; family, clubs and school. We learned about what it means to be a Christian. We looked at the Christian faith and the children learned that Christians believe in God and their Holy book is called a Bible.
They found out that Christians believe they belong to God's family and their special place is the church, where they can go to pray, sing hymns and belong to their special family. They talked about where their special place was and the special people in their lives. We talked a lot about how we can be kind and helpful to each other and looked at the story The Good Samaritan, which can be viewed below.
In the last few weeks of Autumn Term 2 we learned about the Christmas story. They sequenced and ordered the story and wrote the story in their own words. We talked about the gifts Jesus were given and we then thought about gifts maybe we could give to our family and friends. Do these gifts have to be expensive? The children realised that some gifts don't have to cost any money at all. Gifts such as; a hug, their time, helping friends and family, can mean the world to someone. The real meaning of Christmas is to love one another, be kind, thoughtful, be helpful and remember why we celebrate this special time- Jesus was born.
here is a short video of the Christmas story for you to watch.
