Special days
Children in Need 2014
14th November 2014
What an exciting day we've had...face paints, cakes, singing and generally being super!
The children looked wonderful and lit up our school in their bright, vibrant superhero costumes. All made a fantastic effort and we all had lots of fun!
With all your help, Linaker raised a grand total of...
£700!
A big, big thank you and well done to all.
Our Nativity- It’s a baby!
9th December 2014
We have been working very hard for the past few weeks, learning our lines, practising our singing as well as making sure we are prepared for all the faces in the audience to watch us!
After lots of hard work and practise, today we finally did our special nativity play for our grown-ups and what a success!
All of the Year 1 team would like to say how proud we are of the children and would like to thank the parents for all the effort and hard work they’ve put into the costumes for the children. We really appreciate it!
We hope you enjoyed our play just as much as we did!
Here are some photographs to remind you of our special play...
Breakfast with Santa
11th December 2014
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is...
Santa came to see us this morning and we were lucky enough to have breakfast with him, some of us even got the chance to tell him what we would like for Christmas. After that we enjoyed some cereal and toast, whilst having a sing song!
Before Santa left to get back on his sleigh, which he parked it on the roof - he left a big, black sack full of presents for us.
Christmas Fun!
15th December 2014
Christmas party day
We started the day by decorating a Christmas party hat. We used sequins and glitter to make it nice and sparkly! We also created a personalised placemat. We enjoyed having a dance and playing games in the hall. After that we settled down to enjoy some party food and listen to some Christmas songs. All of us were well and truly full up after all the delicious party food!
Once again, we would like to say a big, big thank you to all parents for their generosity in providing snacks for the party!
Posting our letters to Santa!
18th December 2014
All the children in 1SC have been very good this year!!
We have been busy writing our letters to Santa in class and today we walked to the post box to post our letters. We sang some songs whilst walking to the post box, as well as making sure we kept safe along the way!
When we arrived at the post box we gave the envelope a kiss and made a wish.
Happy Chinese New Year
February 2015
Year 1 celebrated Chinese New Year!
We all came to school dressed in something red or yellow as they are the colours on the Chinese flag. We found out about how Chinese people celebrate their New Year and we discussed the different animals that represent each year. We completed lots of fun and exciting activities and we even had the chance to try some Chinese food!
Here are some photographs of us celebrating...
World Book Day 2015
Thursday 5th March 2015
I wonder...
What is your favourite book? Why is it your favourite book? What is your favourite part of the book? Who is your favourite character? Who is the author of the book? Who is the illustrator of the book? If you could choose a different ending for the book, what would it be?
What a FANTASTIC day!
We came to school dressed as our favourite book character! We discussed our character and some of us had the opportunity to share the story that our character was from. We took part in some super activities including making jam tarts with the Queen of hearts, acting out traditional tales, making a bookmark as well as listening to some traditional tales with Alice from Alice in Wonderland. We had a super day and enjoyed eating our jam tarts during the afternoon at our civilised ‘tea party’!
If you want any information as to where or how to spend your World Book day voucher visit the website below. There's lots to look at on the website and there are games to play too - Dino planet poop is a game that I think you will enjoy! Follow the link 'games' on the website.

Red Nose Day 2015
Friday 13th March 2015
Do something funny for money....
This year Comic reliefs theme was to do something funny for money.
Helping others is something that we are good at in 1SC so we were more than happy to get involved and pull a silly face to raise money for those that need our help. Leading up to Red Nose day we learnt the comic relief funny face song with Mrs Thomas in assembly time and we also discussed where the money we raise goes and more importantly, what a difference it makes!
Children had a wonderful time dressed up and enjoyed spending their money at the cake sale and lots of money was raised!
Visit the Comic Relief website to find out more on where the money goes and how you can help -
How much did we raise altogether?...
Linaker raised a grand total £423.34! The UK government also promised that they will double the amount each school makes!
