The Harvest Festival
7.10.19
We have been joining in with the rest of the school in celebrating the Harvest festival. We went to our first ever assembly today and it was all about the harvest festival. Rob Milton came to speak to us from a local church. He talked to us about how the earth provides us with lots of lovely crops, but the sad thing is that as humans we don’t always share. He explained the importance of sharing. He then thanked us all for bringing in tins of food to give to Southport foodbank. We joined in with a lovely song called ‘Big red combine harvester’ and some of us even tried to join in with the actions. When we got back to class we discussed the importance of sharing.
Pearl Of Africa Choir
Thursday 24th October 2019
Today the Pearl of Africa choir came to Linaker Primary School. They travelled all the way from Uganda, in Africa. The choir kindly planned and prepared two workshops for us to take part in. One was an African drumming session and the other was an African dance session. In addition to the workshops, we looked at African jewellery and instruments. We made our own necklaces and shakere’s, whilst listening to some traditional African music. The choir told us about their lives in Africa and we compared their lives to ours.
