Summer Term 2
ββββββ
βββββWelcome back to our final term together!
We honestly can't believe where the time has gone. We have lots of great things planned which include Arts Week beginning on Monday 27th June. If your child could bring in an old shirt to wear that would be very much appreciated as we will be painting, gluing and doing lots of other messy activities.
Phonics Screening takes place Tuesday 7th June to Friday 10th June. Please do keep practising with your child during that week.
Mrs White has an operation due on Friday 10th June to fix her thumb, so Thursday 9th June will be her last day in school for this school year. She is really upset that she will miss the children's final term but has loved teaching them all and hopefully she might be able to zoom into class to see them. She is super proud of each and every one of them!
Our topic focus this term is Geography and we will be taking a journey through Europe. The children will be using maps and globes to name some of the countries in Europe such as Germany, Poland, Spain and France. They will be learning about landmarks such as Big Ben, The Eiffel Tower and The leaving Tower of Pisa and where they can find them.
In RE this half term or question is What makes done places sacred? We will be learning a new religion, Islam. The children will be learning about artefacts that can be found in a mosque such as the prayer may, minbar, minaret and the Qur'an. They will be learning about the festival Ramadan. The children will be looking at similarities between Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
In PE we will be teaching the children Games in particular Rounders. They will learn and to catch and throw accurately and work together in a team. We will be practising team games too ready for Sports Day.
