Maths
Thursday 4th February Ch 9 Lesson 2
LO: To be able to measure objects using other items as non-standard units of measure, such as pencils or paper clips.
In today’s lesson we will be looking at ‘units of measure’ and using everyday objects as a ‘unit of measure’. By using everyday objects, we will understand that measuring something means comparing it with an object of a known size. We will be estimating the length of objects, this means we will be having a ‘good’ guess at the length of different objects.

Afternoon Activities
Science- LO: To identify which animal families are invertebrates.
Lesson 3 of Oak Academy – The Animal Kingdom. Click here for the lesson.
In this lesson, we are going to be learning about 3 different families of animals which are invertebrates. Invertebrates are animals which do not have a backbone. They either have a soft body, like worms and jellyfish, or they have a hard outer casing covering their body, like spiders and crabs. We will be learning specifically about crustaceans, arachnids and insects which are types of invertebrates.
Independent work:
Choose an invertebrate from the lesson, draw it and write a sentence about its features.
