Our Spring 2 topic was 'New life' so you can carry on learning about 'Spring' and 'New Life'.
You could observe and draw or paint the 'signs of spring' that you can see out of your window or in your garden. Use language such as bud, bulb, seed, shoot, leaf, petal etc.
Could you grow anything of your own while you are at home? Most seeds will germinate if you plant them in soil. The children loved planting their apple seeds when they had snack!
Remember if you do plant something and it starts to grow, there are more learning opportunities. You could draw what you can see, label it (leaf, pot, soil, stem). You could even measure the growth using a non- standard unit of measure (cubes, matchsticks) or a standard unit of measure (cm - using a ruler).
Talk about the wildlife-birds building nests, butterflies-where have they come from? bees-what is their job?
Scavenger hunts are a great idea and can involve lots of counting.
We are still concentrating on numbers up to 20-recognising the numeral, counting the objects correctly and ordering the numbers. It will also give you opportunity to add items together and take things away. All good practice for the children.
