Background Slideshow

Today we will be starting Chapter 6 Lesson 1 of our MNP. Here is a brief explanation of what we will be covering for the next few lessons.

In this chapter, we look at numbers up to 20 focusing in particular on numbers between 10 and 20. Pupils will be able count and write to 20, compare and order numbers, and see patterns within 20.

During the zoom we will introduce the lesson objective and show them the In Focus Task. The children will have a go at answering the question in their books and we will then discus their answers. We will go through the Let's Learn and Guided Practice with them too.

After this the children will be expected to complete the worksheets in their MNP workbooks independently. If the children are struggling please help them but don't do it for them. The children should complete as many of the worksheet pages for that lesson as they can.

We appreciate that all children learn at different speeds so if they are finding it difficult ask them to do as much as they can, but please don't worry if they can't complete them all. We want them to be happy learning at home and the last thing we want is for you and your child to be stressed with any work set that they find difficult.

LO: To be able to count numbers up to 20 using the key strategy to begin by making 10.

In this lesson you will need a tens frame which is added below or alternatively you can draw one on your whiteboard or in your book. We will be counting up to 10 and learning to count on from a number.
Task-complete pages 95-98. If you find them difficult complete as much as you can.

Afternoon Activities

This afternoon we will be introducing our new Topic -Poles Apart. The children will be learning about animals that live in the Artic and Antarctic. We will be starting with a story called 365 Penguins by Jean-Luc Fromental and illustrated by Joelle Jolivet. The story can be found on You Tube which you can find on the link below.

Task- your task today will be to draw a home for a penguin and either label it or write a few sentences. There are some template sheets below if you want to use those or you can draw it in your books. Don't forget to ask a grown up to upload any work you want to share onto the year 1 email address.
