Morning Zoom - phonics

Listen to some calm music (click here) and practise letter formation whilst children enter Zoom. 

Look at our focus sound today  'v' 

Look at the pictures for the 'v' sound - vase, vulture, vest and vet 

Speedy sounds- look at previously taught sounds

Speedy write- practise writing 'v' sound and previously taught sounds

Listen to my Fred talk with Fred (oral blending)  - v-e-t , v-a-n and alien words v-o-p and v-a-f

Look at read some green words (See Powerpoint attached below)

Use fred fingers to spell two of the words.

 

SHOW AND TELL - speaking and listening activity. Show one of your favourite things from home; it could be a teddy bear or a toy. You can tell us about it, if you wish and then we might ask a couple of questions

Discussing money today - show children some of my coins - look at the properties and then discuss the value. 

How much is in my piggybank - Powerpoint attached - children to write how much money they can see.

Find some coins, if you haven't already. Put the coins underneath some paper and use a crayon to do some coin rubbing! Remember to post a picture of your work :-)

Months of the year song - click here to watch

Write numbers 1-10 on your paper. Use 3 minute interactive timer. If there is time left once you've done that, continue writing your numbers and see how high you get. 

Play a ordering game virtually - look at the numbers and put them in order. Play the game at home by clicking here.

Look at my maths pictures - 'I spy' maths - How many X can you see?  Write it down. Next we will compare the amounts using language more and less/fewer.

 

NOTE - Tomorrow morning after phonics we will be doing 'show and tell'. You can choose one thing to show us and tell us about.  This will develop speaking and listening skills.

Continue discussing winter. Today we will have a story - 'The Runaway Iceberg' . 

 

Mrs Howard's Iceberg challenge - I have made a little iceberg like the one in the story. Look at the iceberg.  Make some predictions - do you think it will float or sink? Powerpoint attached.

Play I spy with your grown-up - draw and write 3 things you see. I wonder if they are things beginning with 'r' ?

 

Zoom Challenge - with your grown-up have a try making your own ice berg. Freeze some water. Then see if your Ice berg floats or sinks.

Number 12. Number 12 is one more than 11.

Numberline - lets count forwards and backwards using our numberlines. 

Put your finger on 12 - identify one more and one less.

Practise forming number 12. Recognise that it is a 2-digit number. 

Draw 12 things and show me!

Find 12 things in your house. Put them in front of you and count them.
