This morning Mrs Davis has kindly agreed to do some music with us, as Jenny Wren is poorly.

We will then play some party games...

Finally we will be having a quiz whilst you enjoy some party food at home/school.

Guess the Kids TV theme tune -adults are welcome to join in too. 

 

Please can you send your child's completed worksheets and exercise book back into school on Monday in a plastic bag with their name on.

 

Also, if you borrowed a school iPAD/laptop please return that to school on Monday. 

 

We would like to say a big "Thank You"  to all our children and their grown-ups for working so hard at home, we really do appreciate it.

WORLD BOOK DAY

Morning Zoom - World Book day themed

Have a look at outfits/funny costumes. Children can show their favourite books.

Tell a couple of jokes in the theme of funny reading!

Read a funny poem to children called ''On the Ning Nang Nong' by Spike Milligan.

 

Play ‘ Name that story game’ - Look through Powerpoint and listen to the clues. What story do you think it is? 

 

Talk to children about 'The masked reader' and tell children they can have a look and listen and try and guess which one is Mrs Howard and which one is Miss Critchlow. CLICK HERE for masked reader videos.

Home learning task for this morning

1. Enjoy reading this morning!

2. Send your photo of you reading in a funny place – if you haven’t already.

3. Log on to Oxford Owl and complete your book review – in home learning pack (attached below).

 

Afternoon Zoom - maths

Play addition/subtraction bingo. Read out a number sentence/clue and children work out answer If they have the answer on their grid – cross it off!

 

Tell children that because tomorrow morning is our last every Zoom session (hopefully!) – we are going to celebrate and have a Zoom party! Children can wear party clothes and have a little plate of goodies (crisps, biscuits, general party food) in front of them if they wish. We will play some games and celebrate!

 

Home learning task for this afternoon

Make a hat to wear on the ‘Zoom Party’ tomorrow! If you don’t want to make one – you could wear a party hat you have at home.

 

Wednesday 3rd March

REMEMBER IT IS WORLD BOOK DAY TOMORROW  - DRESS UP FOR ZOOM AS SOMETHING FUNNY OR YOUR FAVOURITE CHARACTER!

Recap previously taught sounds so far.

Look through special friends (set 1) ; th, sh, qu, ng and nk. 

Look through set 2 sounds; ay, ee, igh, ow, oo, oo (short sound)

Speedy sounds and a speedy write. 

 

 

Play green and red word bingo. Listen when Mrs Howard and Miss Critchlow Fred talk the word. What word is it? 

(Note - prizes will be given out on Monday at school)

 

Reminder about World Book day tomorrow. Children can show us one of their favourite books on Zoom tomorrow along with the other activities.

2.Writing CVC words sheet from home learning packs. Use Fred fingers to spell the words (attached below so you know what to look for)

Afternoon Zoom - Maths

Subtraction is our focus today – take away, subtract, less are key words for today.

We have focussed on subtraction and taking away before on zoom. With Miss C – you had some sweets/ fruit and you had to eat some to take it away – do you remember?

 

Look at my powerpoint and recap on the mathematical signs; - and =

Choose a colour and lets see what is behind the colour - a number sentence!! We will work it out together. 

 

Play a subtraction focussed game together. Read the number sentence together and word out. Children write answers and show me! CLICK HERE to play again at home.

 

Home Learning task for this afternoon

1. Subtraction number sentences  - sheet from home learning pack. Children can use physical objects to help them e.g. teddy bears, numberlines– anything!

2. Fill in a bingo grid (for tomorrow) – pick 9 numbers between 1 - 25

Tuesday 2nd March

Sound today - set 2 sound - ir

Whirl and Twirl

The children are dancing...the children say ' whirl and twirl'

Mrs Howard to tell you some words with ir sound (twirl, whirl, third, dirt, bird, girl)

I will Fred talk the words and then you fred ralk after. My turn , your turn.

Show children some words with ir in. Lets see if we can fred talk them to read together. Lok through PPT (attached)

Practise Fred fingers (spelling words) together. Mrs Howard model - fingers facing you.

d-ir-t   = 3 sounds , so 3 Fred fingers. Children to get 3 fingers ready and touch each sound as they sound 'dirt' out. 

 

Play Dragons Den phonics game. Sound the word out to read (all with ir sound) - is it a real word or alien? CLICK HERE to play again.

 

Read 'Brenda's Boring Egg' story to children and use some of talk cards to discuss. 

 

Home Learning task for this morning 

1. Virtual Classroom phonics.

2.  Look through Brenda’s Egg talk cards. Choose a couple and discuss at home.

3. Draw or paint a colourful egg, like one from the story!

If you have time maybe you could make a nest like the nest in Brenda’s boring egg story or The Ugly Duckling story.

4. Choose 9 of my green words OR red words. List is attached below. This needs to be ready for tomorrow, so we can play bingo!

2.Complete the dinosaur number bonds sheet from home learning packs (attached below for your information - it is called 'Number bonds to 10')

Monday 1st March

Look at the picture side of card  - That's not fair

Mum is eating all the cakes, the children say 'That's not fair!' 

Mrs Howard to tell you some words with air sound ( fair, hair, chair, stair)

Show children some words with air in. Lets see if we can fred talk them to read together. Lok through PPT (attached)

ch-air   = 2 sounds , so 2 Fred fingers. Children to get 2 fingers ready and touch each sound as they sound 'chair' out. 

 

Continue with ‘New life & growing’ theme.  Read The Ugly Duckling story to children. 

Discuss the story – how did the duckling feel at the beginning and at the end?

 

Discuss the fact World Book Day is on Thursday. The theme is funny reading. Dress up as favourite characters or something funny! Send photos in of you dressed up, reading in a funny place!

 

Home Learning task for this morning 

1. Virtual Classroom phonics.

2. Think about ‘The Ugly Duckling’ story. Look at the word mat and tell your grown-up about the story.

3. Make a card for the Ugly Duckling and write him a message to make him happy and feel special.
