Useful Websites
This week will be our last week of live Zoom lessons, as all children return to school on Monday 8th March. We are so proud of all the learning you have done at home, and have loved seeing you on the screen. We are so very excited that we can all now go back to our classroom and see you in person again.
There are just a couple of things that will be slightly different for our last Zoom week;
On Thursday it is World Book Day, our morning we will be doing maths as usual but in the afternoon we would like you to dress up as your favourite book character and share your favourite book with us.
On Friday our morning will be maths as usual but in the afternoon there will be no Zoom lessons. Teachers are going into school to get the classrooms ready. Maybe you could pack your school bag ready for Monday.
On Monday 8th please bring BOTH Maths No Problem books into school in a carrier bag with your name on. Also bring your exercise books including your pink spelling book. If you have borrowed a laptop or ipad it is very important that this comes back into school on Monday too.
Thank you again to all the grown ups for their help and support. We really do appreciate it, and we certainly couldn't have done it without you!
School times for drop off and pick up remain staggered for the time being and are the same as in December (9am and 3pm for Year 1). Please remember to wear your mask and socially distance.
We really are looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 8th March!
Kind regards,
Mr Kelly

Find today's work here, 8th - 12th February.
Please note that there will be changes to our zoom timetable this week. Live Zoom lessons will take place as usual on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but on Thursday and Friday Mr Kelly will not be doing any live lessons as he will be inviting you to an individual zoom session on Thursday to see where you are up to with your phonics, to find out what sounds you need to learn next. Mr Kelly will email each family with a time, if you don't receive an email by the end of the day on Tuesday then it maybe that we have the wrong email address for you, so please contact us at year1@linaker.org.uk to arrange your session. Sessions will last between 5 and 10 minutes.
There will still be lessons and work set for you on Thursday and Friday, so make sure you check the stars each day.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all the grown ups who have been so supportive over the last few weeks. I have loved seeing the children on Zoom lessons and you have been brilliant at helping your children with their work. I have enjoyed looking at the work you have emailed in, and your feedback has been invaluable in shaping the lessons - I am learning too!
Please take time over half term to relax and have some fun together. I will see you back on Zoom on Monday 22nd February, I will continue at the same times and with the same passcodes. If you need anything just ask and I will do my best to help.
Warmest regards,
Mr Kelly
Find today's work here - Week beginning 18th January:
Hi everyone,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely Christmas holiday and are safe and well. I was REALLY looking forward to our new term together. Hopefully, we'll have just as much fun online.
Until we can join back together in our classroom, our Zoom sessions will take place at 9:45am and 1:00pm. Zoom codes can be found in the home learning pack or by emailing year1@linaker.org.uk
As before, you will find links below to the work set each day. We are following our usual timetable as much as possible. We expect to see you on the zoom sessions each day and we are required to take a register of attendance.
In addition to the work set we also expect you to continue to read at home, (we are aware that your books are in school so whatever books you have at home is fine). Please make use of Lexia, Reading buddy, MyMaths and NumBots. If you have misplaced your logins please get in touch.
We look forward to seeing you on the Zoom sessions and back in school, safe and well, as soon as possible.
Big socially distanced hugs from all of us at Linaker until then!
Take care,
Mr Kelly
Planning your day...
It is really important to keep a routine for your child, try to keep to set times for getting up, eating meals and going to bed.
Their learning timetable might look something like the one below, but we absolutely understand the challenges of learning at home and it is only a suggestion. Each family will adapt their times according to their circumstances. However, the children are required to join in the zooms at the times stated.
Children aged 5 and 6 still have a relatively short concentration span so the day is divided up into lots of small chunks with breaks in between. During breaks your child might need to do some exercise or get some fresh air, or they might just want to play with their toys.
