Year 5
Welcome to Year 5
The Year 5 team consists of Mrs. Corkhill (5JC), Miss. Chambers (5KC), Mrs. Woodward (Spanish), Mrs. Gray and Mr. Tilley.
Key information:
Homework
A piece of Maths and a piece of English homework is given on Thursdays, with the expectation that it is returned the following Tuesday. Homework is either revision of previous learning or reinforcement of learning that has taken place during the lesson. If your child has a problem with the homework, please ask them to talk to their class teacher who will be happy to help.
Reading
As in previous years, all the children have a school reading book and a reading record. They are encouraged to bring these home daily and regular reading remains the greatest support that parents can offer their children. As children progress in reading, discussion of the books becomes more important than listening to them read - by Year 5, the children need to be able to talk about characters and their motives and devices that a writer uses.
At the moment, new books are given out on a Monday, with any finished books being collected in on the Friday. This will be reviewed at half term.
Physical Education
PE is on Monday. Please ensure that your child is wearing their correct PE kit when they arrive at school. This can be shorts, jogging bottoms or leggings, with the Linaker polo shirt and jumper or cardigan as normal. Earrings and jewellery must be removed before children come to school.

Contacting Year 5
At the moment we are not offering face-to-face meetings, so email is the best way to ask questions, or pass on any concerns. Thank you for your cooperation.
