Free School Meals

From September 2014 children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a funded school meal, known as the Universal Infant Free School Meal. However, we ask that families of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who are eligible to register for benefits-based Free School Meals to continue to register, as this attracts additional funding (Pupil Premium Grant) that the school can use to support children’s learning.

If children are registered for benefits-based Free School Meals, they and the school will benefit from additional funding (Pupil Premium Grant). Pupil premium is extra funding and is provided by the government. This funding is to support your child’s education. If you or your partner are in one of the qualifying benefits, this can be claimed. We will then receive up to £1300 per child in primary school and up to £935 per child in secondary school. If you think your KS2 child might be entitled to free school meals, please collect a form from the school office or apply through the link at the bottom of this page.

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

• Universal Credit with a household income of less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

• Income support.

• Income-Based Jobseekers' Allowance

• Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance

• Child Tax Credit ONLY (not entitled to Working Tax Credit) and household income less than £16,190

• Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

• Working Tax Credit 'run on' – the payment you receive for a further four weeks after you finish work

• Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
